School Meals

We encourage all children to have a healthy and nutritional meal at lunchtime and a snack during morning break.

Research shows that children who have a nutritionally balanced meal (rather than one that has too much sugar and fat) are better able to concentrate in lessons. All meals prepared at our school must comply with the government Standards for school food in England.

We also encourage children to keep hydrated during the school day, preferably with water or other drinks without additives or added sugar.

Our School Meals cost £2.50 per child per day (i.e £12.50 per week). We request that payment for school meals is made at the start of a week for the whole of the week ahead. We do not support payment in arrears or permit accumulation of arrears. Payment may be made via the online 'Gateway' Schoolcomms (login) - full details of which can be found under the 'online payments' section of the Parents tab on this website. Parents may also pay for a half or full term in advance if they wish.

Free school meals

All children in reception, year 1 and year 2 automatically get free school meals. It is important that parents and guardians apply for free school meals when they enrol their child in school, as this can help their child’s school to attract additional ‘pupil premium‘ funding to support learning.

From year 3 onwards, children whose parents are getting certain state support (e.g Universal Credit) are entitled to free school meals. However, eligibility will also depend on the household's other income.

How to apply

Apply through the Citizen Portal. This is the quickest and easiest way to apply and will result in you getting an instant decision. Alternatively, call the Education Helpline on 0345 155 1019.
